What is Mai-hime about?

It is a story about a 15 year old girl named Mai who travels with her younger brother Takumi, to a co-ed school called Fuuka academy, where they were exepted a scholarship to stay. During her travel to the school Fuuka Academy, she encountered two beings with superhuman powers, Natsuki and Mikoto, where they raged a destructive battle. Little does Mai know that she too possesses the power of HIME. her troubles don't stop there, as she will have to encounter foes equal or greater than the people she have witnessed on the Ferry. Her destiny, is awaiting for her....

What is a HIME?

a HIME stands for HIghly-advanced Materialized Equipment. Hime are only young women who posses a strange marking in red. There are only 12 hime in the show.

Characters:

Mai:

She is the female protagonist with orange hair. Her child is named Kagutschi, a large dragon like creature with a sword in the middle of its head. It can also transform and fly into outer space. Mai's weapon are rings around her wrists and ankles. She can use them to fly, shoot fire and guard her self. Mai has a younger brother named Takumi who has a heart condition and must take pills regularly. Mai finds herself in a love triangle with Tate and Reito. Mai loves to cook, sing and takes on many jobs. She gets into a lot of trouble upon meeting Mikoto((the girl with the overbearing sword)) and Natsuki((the gunslinger))

Manga:

What is it about?

Tate Yuuichi is overjoyed: He gets to go to a brand new high school. Of course, then he just happens to find out the school he choose is under frequent attack by strange creatures called ''Orphans'', and the school set up a special task force of female members called ''HiME''s, using various elements as their powers, to battle these invaders. That's not all, though. Each member of the HiME task force has their own, unique ''Key'', another person whom, upon being discovered, can team up with the HiME to create a ''Child'', a combative unit specifically needed to effectively battle these Orphans. And with Tate's luck, he just happens to find out he's not just the ''Key'' for one of the HiMEs, but for two... Two highly competitive, rival schoolgirls. And that's only the start of the trouble.

Difference's between the anime and manga


- Tate is the main protangonist in the manga, rather than Mai in the anime
- Tate is the one transfering to Fuuka Academy in the beginning, rather than Mai
- Mai already knows about her powers, about HiME, her child, Orphan, etc.
- In the manga, the only way for a HiME to summon her child is to be touched by her "key"
- Manga is a little bit darker than the anime
- Much more ecchi in the manga
